Maor Baskis
MSc student in Geophysics, Tel Aviv University
Maor Baskis is an Electrical Engineering MSc student at Tel Aviv University and is a member of the Photonic Seismology Lab led by Dr. Ariel Lellouch. He is currently conducting his thesis research on urban traffic monitoring using distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technology over existing fiber-optic infrastructure.
The primary objective of his thesis is to develop algorithms for real-time vehicle detection and categorization, as well as the precise estimation of kinematic and physical parameters, with the focus on weight and velocity.
Maor holds two Bachelor of Sciene degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Bar-Ilan University, with focus on signal processing and electro-optics.
He leveraged his knowledge in his military service, in which he worked as a Remote Sensing Algorithm Developer in a fast-paced R&D environment, providing cutting edge solutions. Maor has also served as the Team Leader, where he demonstrated strong leadership and creativity by navigating his team through major national conflicts while overcoming complex challenges. He now brings his robust background in applied research and technical problem-solving to his graduate studies.
